Each year, these courses always seem to just get better and better. I extend my gratitude to GBBA for granting a bursary to give me the chance to continue to attend these wonderful courses.

This course was particularly special, not only because I had the huge privilege of being selected to be co-principal of the percussion section, but also due to me qualifying to compete in the Harry Mortimer solo competition on percussion this course, which was a fantastic experience I shall treasure.

Finally performing in the Royal College Of Music under the baton of Martyn Brabbins for the 2nd time was awe-inspiring, and as someone personally interested in conducting of all kinds, listening to Martyn and even being allowed to conduct the band in a masterclass hosted by Martyn was a real eye-opener. Tim De Maeseneer and Isobel Dawes were incredible soloists and it was an honour to perform with them.

Lastly, as always, the courses are incredible for making friends for life. The people I have met through NYBBGB will be there in banding for my whole life.
